There is an svga_mode patch on tsx-11 for setting the video mode at boot
time. I've used it since Linux 0.95c, and have been pleased with it.
Just install the patch, edit the top level Makefile to select the desired
video mode, and recompile the kernel. It's easier than editing setup.S. :-)
