At the risk setting off a round of flaming, I'll state "the mcc-interim
0.96c release kit is a good way to install a Linux system with a broad
collection of utilities."

The installaltion procedure is direct and does not require special knowledge
to follow. The utility collection is sufficient for mainstream "I just want
to get some work done" users. It includes gcc, groff, a man set, and... a
working PS!

Look on the usual sources (TSX-11, etc.) for mcc-interim and look on
cs.tamu.edu for a collection of mcc and X11. I haven't used the later set -
yet.

NOTE: If you're looking for "bleeding edge" Linux, get the sources and go
for it. But expect to put a little more effort into it than going with the
mcc set(s).

NOTE: There are also ABC and mj variants. Not having used either, maybe
the above is all wrong. Flames to /dev/null.

Rick
