After I downloaded the tex2.2.2 stuff, I am rather confused. The stripped
binaries is about 10K smaller than the version I had, except for that,
the new tex2.2.2 consumes about 100K more memory (even after sharing),
uses more resources (300 compared to 244 by the old one). The old tex is
not compiled with shared lib, so I won't have to recompile if gcc
version is changed. ... So what is the use of this new TeX2.2.2? Does
it have bug fixes?

Please enlighten me.
