From: schuerch@hasler.ascom.ch (Heinz Christoph Schuerch) Subject: another X-problem. (maybe an old one) Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1992 07:01:37 GMT
- I know X-questions should be sent to the appropriate news-group,
but this problem hits me down and I dont know which news-group is
the right one.
Afther upgrading my hardware from a 386sx/16 to a 486dx/33 the X-window desk-
top (twm) is completely frozen.
The X-server starts as before. The background color changes. The strange thing
at that point is, that I do not see the cursor (cross) as with the old hardware.
Afther a while I see the title bar "xclock" asking me to place the xclock, but
there is no xclock outline visible as with the old configuration. No cursor
movement takes place if I move the mouse arround. If I press then any keyboard
button, the outline appears at the bottom line of the screen (only the topmost
lines of the outline are visible). But then the system hangs completely.
It seems that either the keyboard or the mouse freezes the desktop. But the
same configuration (keyboard, mouse, Xconfig) worked before.
Any suggestions are welcome.
My configuration:
486dx/33 with 4M RAM, Chicony board, OPTI chip set, AMI BIOS
Logitech Serial Mouse (CS-7)
Linux 0.96a and ).96c
X11-version: 1.0
