Congratulations for the rootimage-0.96. I decided to nuke my old Linux
stuff completely (I had binaries in there lying around forever) and start
over. Mostly clean. Just a couple problems (some have been reported):
1) File permissions - easy to fix - make everything root. It would be
nice to get these straightened out.
2) Missing 'ln' and 'awk' - I think someone mentioned 'ln', but maybe
awk should be stuck there too - the inst2.x from gcc 2.2.2 uses it.
Also, this is unrelated I think, when I was reading from the floppy with
tar (/dev/fd1 which is a 3.5" 1.44M), and I tried to type in the next
command, garbage started filling up on my screen. (This is an ET3000 SVGA,
just running in normal 80x24). Is this normal? Or is something messed
up in my installation.
That's about all - Linux seems to be getting better. A CD file system
would be great - especially if you could pretend it was a hard drive, and
"write" files to it, which of course the file system would store someplace,
unique to each CD (that is probably the more tricky part - making a unique
file system for each individual CD-ROM). Keep it up...
