I have somehow managed to get two copies of assert.h.
One of them starts like this
#ifndef _ASSERT_H
#define _ASSERT_H
.
.
#endif
which is clearly wrong. The other one is fine (it just has
the bit in between). Assert.h is the only include file that should
NOT have these guards. You might like to check yours (especially if
you are running mcc linux, like me)
