From: rafal@utstat.toronto.edu (Rafal Kustra (summer student)) Subject: [Q]: Is xdm workable with .99pl1 ? Date: 30 Dec 1992 04:37:56 GMT
After hectic months in school, finaly got some time for
Linux. Wanted to upgrade from .98pl4 to .99pl1. Yes, this
includes a jump to non-writable-strings. Had to replace
few prgrams, but I thought xdm was pretty stable?
It doesn't work in .99pl1, and I could not find any new
binary( or linux sources). So has anyone got it to work
and I am the only stupid one, or there is a real problem ?
Needless to say I got it working in .98pl4. xdm-errors
mentions that it couldn't get XOpenWindow and had to
abort.
On other note. From those dark MS-Windoze times I
remember a cute comm program called UW (for windows).
This program had two parts - one on Unix host and one for
PS and MS-windoze. It let you have up to 7 sessions on
one line, all in different windows. Something like
screen, but packaged nicely in MSWindoze stuff. So you
could be editing a file in one window and compile it in
other. For record it also had other neaties like graphical
Zmodem selecteble fonts, few term emulations etc.
Has anyone done something similar for X11 ? I mean
different sessions in different windows over one line ?
I love Seyon, and that functionality seems to be the only
missing part (suggestion, suggestion -;).
Thanx to all guys in Linux.
