Hello all,
I have an STB Powergraph ERGO VGA card with 1MB RAM, and
a Mitsubishi Diamondscan monitor, and a Logitech serial mouse
attached to /dev/ttys0. I have been have a HELL of a time trying
to get them to all work together and get X up and running.
Here's what I know: (not much)
My STB has programable dot-clocks that go anywhere from 0-70Mhz.
The most common rates are 25, 28, 35, 36, 45, 50, 63, 65,
although the 63 and 65 are pretty rare. It has a et400 chipset.
My monitor is a multisync with a maximum horiz refresh of 36Khz,
and a max vert refresh rate of 90Khz.
I have ( using the modegen[1,2].sc spreadsheet) gotten Xmono running
640x480:-(, but when I try setting it to 800x600 or 1024x768 using the
same settings, I get "not enough video ram for selected resolution"
messages. Hhhmmmmmm, my vcard has 1MB on it, and I have used it
it 1024x768x256 mode B.L. (before Linux :-), so I know the card will
do it. I have tried setting the param videoram to 1024 but the
message persists. Both the chipset and the amount of vidram appear
to be self detected correctly when not set in Xconfig.
I looked in /usr/X386/lib/X11/doc/vga.db and found a listing
for my card the said that it could be used in 1024x768 mode
with a 1120x900 virtual screen.
The following is the Mode.db entry that I got working:
28Mhz 640 640 728 776 480 480 482 493
I have tried:
50Mhz 1024 1024 1176 1256 768 772 776 796
63Mhz 1024 1080 1208 1336 768 772 776 796
Thanks,
Craig..........
