Subject: [Q] Can't keep lpd daemon running
Date: 27 Dec 1992 17:34:09 GMT

I have setup the lpr package that I just FTP'ed. But when I
either start the daemon (lpd) from rc.local or the command line
(i.e. /dev/etc/lpd &) it dies with no signs.

The output from lpq:

<<< Output from lpq >>>
Warning: no daemon present <--------- It's dead
Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
1st root 2 readme.lpr 2466 bytes
2nd root 3 t 3 bytes

Daemon permissions:

<<< Permissions of lpd >>>
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 37892 Nov 19 23:32 /usr/etc/lpd

Any clues would be appreciated.
