Subject: Is >4Mb essential for X?

I have installed the SLS version (from Bond Uni) on a 486 with IDE
drive with some minor prob's starting X but I have also installed
it on a 386DX with SCSI drive (a few hassles there) - this machine
only has 4Mb ram. Is it essential to have more than 4Mb to start X
even if you are not compiling?
