Is it really that hard to understand that there _was_ an attempt to
create more groups for Linux, and that it _failed_, with the exception
of the group comp.os.linux.announce. And because of the failure,
there can't be another attempt until six months pass from the previous
one (that's about five months from now).
Followups to news.groups, where you can discuss the fact that the
people most eager to propose new groups and splitting groups usually
don't seem to have a clue.
[ I post this note in public because there won't be an end to these
complaints until everybody knows what the current situation is. ]
On a more constructive side, perhaps you could do something about your
newsreading software and habits to make it easier to follow groups
with a large volume. Things like using a better newsreader (I prefer
trn myself), kill files, selecting articles based on subject lines and
or keywords in the article body, and so on. If you can't do any of
these, I feel sorry for you, but you still can't split the group until
June next year or so.
