Subject: [Q][X11] A.C.M. without ethernet possible?
Date: Fri, 18 Dec 1992 10:27:27 GMT

Hi All,

Does any one know if it is possible to run acm on a linux box without
an ethernet card?
I believe that 0.98 sources are compiled with tcp/ip as default,
and when booting, I do get the message that the Internet sockets
are being initialized.

I read in the linux network faq that there is a loopback option
that enables your machine to talk to itself.
I think that's the very thing that can make the acm process
talk to the acms process which is running on the same machine, but how?

Do I need to give a special kind of inet addr in order to
have the loopback option take effect?

If ya are able to spread some light on this matter, please drop me a line,

        Thanks in advance,

                Bram Stolk
