Subject: Trouble with ps, free, top after recompile
Date: 1 Dec 1992 22:04:13 GMT

I've just spent the past few hours installing the SLS (0.98) distribution
and have run into a few problems...

I recompiled the kernel (0.98pl5) to fix up my keyboard, taking out
the scsi code in the process (I don't need it). Since installing the
new kernel several utils don't work, namely ps, free and top.

I keep getting 'error reading kmem (offset = 0x2b....)' messages, sometimes
the headers will appear, but no data, with free I get 0 bytes in each column
for main memory, and nothing about my swap space.
I also get FP exceptions when running top - I did _nothing_ to the FP
code in the Makefile (left it set to Emulation, which is what I need).

Has anyone got any ideas / suggestions as to how I can get these programs
to work again ?
