That won't actually be necessary, since the conversion program that I've
written does a wonderful job of converting a first-generation efs partition
into the second-generation format right where it sits. This program will
be included with the release of EFS: The Next Generation, so even if you
only have one large efs partition, you won't have to go through a full
mkfs/restore to use the new efs (of course, the disk is already backed
up, right?) I've been testing it using fairly large loop partitions
(thanx Werner), and will soon use it to convert my entire disk. I've
just been waiting to make sure that there will be no further changes to
the new efs disk format -- Remy is still putting the finishing touches on
things. The public release for alpha testing is just around the corner.
