From: meh@math33.sma.usna.navy.mil (Michael E. Hoffman) Subject: can't compile texmgr Date: 12 Aug 1992 17:08:58 GMT
Well, I've been stuck on this for two days, so I'll try asking the net:
I've installed both TeX and MGR from the stuff on tsx-11.mit.edu. It
all works pretty well, though MGR is a little buggy (it crashes if you
make the windows too big). Now there's this program texmgr, which
purports to be a TeX previewer for MGR. I'd dearly like to have it,
but the make always crashes at the link stage: it can't find the
library libmalloc.a. Hacking the makfile to leave it out doesn't work,
so evidently it's essential. WHAT IS IT? I've never seen such a library
anywhere. Am I supposed to generate it somehow? Any help is appreciated!
ps.1: I'd really rather use xdvi, but my video card won't support X as
yet. I hope the S3 cards get support soon.
ps.2: Linux is terrific! Everyone who's worked on it has my profound
admiration.
