    Are you using extended filesystems, by any chance? The tcsh that was
previously available was compiled with the old readdir() code and doesn't
like them.

    There's a newer compilation of tcsh in /pub/Linux/Incoming/tcsh.tar.Z
on banjo (and thanks to whoever took the time to do it!). I would suggest
you try it out.
