In case anyone is interested, BOCA Research in Florida makes a
4-port serial/2-port parallel card for around US$150. They also have dumb
8-port and 16-port serial cards. (All of these cards use an LSI version of
the 16550 chip.)
I have information on the BOCA cards scanned in as 300dpi TIFF images at
this site, if anyone wants it.
