From: tytso@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (Theodore Ts'o) Subject: (Finally!) New uploads on TSX-11.MIT.EDU Date: Sat, 1 Aug 1992 02:11:29 GMT
I've finally found time to actually process all of the files which were
uploaded to tsx-11.mit.edu. My apologies for the delay; I've been
really swamped at work. Thank you all for your patience.
I've noticed that some of the directories on TSX-11 have been getting
really long and bloated, and many of them need pruning. Thus, I've
started reorganizing some of the files in {sources,binaries}/usr.bin to
make it a little bit easier to find things.
Hopefully, someone will produce and maintain a complete source tree of
all of the useful programs that we'd expect in a Unix system, and
regularily compile them all into a binary distribution as well. (Hint,
hint). Then, most of what's in the sources and binaries directories
will be obsolete, except for when people have new programs or updated
programs which haven't made the release cycle yet.

~ftp/pub/linux/{sources,binaries}/faith_FSF/*
This directory contains all of the files which Rik Faith
(faith@cs.unc.edu) has uploaded to TSX-11. Since he's done
such a wondeful job compiling many of FSF's packages,
(including a wondeful README describing all of the files and
what they do) I decided put them in their own directory, instead
of mixing it up with the rest of usr.bin directories. With a
few exceptions, he's compiled most of the recent FSF programs on
TSX-11. Thanks!!!

features present work. It allows files of any size, has some online
help and a man page (bpe.1.1c is current).
